Angel Rocky Rivera was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico to Spanish parents Madeline and Angel Sr. He moved to Ohio, United States at the age of two, where he was raised with his sisters Sheila and Christina.
As a child, Rivera was obsessed with fashion and especially loved bridal gowns. His mother said, “I remember him at the young age of six sketching gowns and saying that he was going to be a designer.”
Rivera attended Youngstown State University in Ohio and received his bachelor’s degree in Fashion Studies. Just days after graduation, he left Ohio and went to New York in search of a career in fashion. Continuing his education in pattern making at the Parsons School of Design in New York City and his work experience for the well known Amsale Design Group, Kirstie Kelly for Disney Fairy Tale Weddings and the world famous bridal salon, Kleinfeld Manhattan, Rivera honed his skills.
Rivera’s real big break came when he designed a bridal gown for a friend, soon afterward requests for his gowns started pouring in. With encouragement from friends, family and co-workers he ventured out on his own and created an exquisite collection of gowns that exude elegance, sophistication and glamour with a modern flair. The use of the finest silks, laces, embroideries and beading are staples in his collections.
Rivera’s gowns are capturing the hearts of brides around the world because each gown is an inspiration that is brought to life through expert pattern making, draping and fitting, made especially for a bride to treasure.
