Carolina Herrera, an iconic fashion designer and timeless beauty, creates bridal collections that elude elegance and intricacy yet still stay true to her signature style of simplistic charm.

Ms. Herrera was born in Caracas, Venezuela, descending from a long line of landowners and statesmen. Raised by loving parents who had a “cultivated aura” she learned at a young age there’s a time and place for everything. With this sensibility, she has governed her life accordingly, making the transition from chic trendsetter, where she spent days with the royals and nights with the Warhol crowd -- to a world renowned designer.

After showcasing her first collection and receiving a positive reaction, she moved her family from Caracas to New York and started Carolina Herrera, Ltd. in 1981.

Her exquisitely detailed, expertly crafted creations were immediately in demand by specialty stores, and chic, sophisticated women turned to Herrera's label for the type of impeccable suits, dresses and gowns she instinctively knew how to design.

"With my clothing and fragrances," says Ms. Herrera, "I believe that it is best to be realistic, but to always mix a bit of fantasy with reality. It's the same with life, really."
