Born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand to Indian parents, designer Rani Totman’s multicultural background contributes to her visionary design.
Growing up Ms. Totman first attended a boarding school in India and, following her natural creative inclinations, went on to pursue a degree at the University of New Delhi, majoring in English Literature.
Later, drawing on her experience from her family’s business, the largest lace manufacturing company in Thailand, Ms. Totman started her first custom tailoring business in Bangkok at the age of 20.
Recognition Ms. Totman was first spotted for her design talent in the United States in 1990 as a finalist in the category of Best Bridal Designer in Dallas. Later, nominated for three consecutive years as a Style Innovator at the prestigious Chicago Apparel Center’s Bridal Debi Awards, Ms. Totman went on to achieve the success of Best Bridal Designer in 1995.
