Bethenny Frankel, celebrity food chef and Real Housewife of NYC, shares her skinnygirl tips on how to get fit for your wedding.
Creator of the Skinnygirl Margarita, Bethenny Frankel is the New York Times Best Selling Author of "Naturally Thin" and star of Bravo's hit show Real Housewives of New York City. We interviewed Bethenny to find out her tips on how to get in shape for your wedding (and stay in shape afterward).
TRB: If a bride decides she wants to lose weight for her wedding, do the quick fixes really work?
Bethenny: Anything works for a week, but when doing something like fasting or crash dieting, your body goes into starvation mode and holds onto whatever it consumes. Once you go back to eating normally, the weight comes back on.
TRB: How will crash dieting effect brides on their honeymoon?
Bethenny: Let's just say you lose weight drastically for the wedding; you don't want to blow up on your honeymoon. Developing a lifelong healthy relationship with food will make you thin for your wedding, during your honeymoon and lasts a lifetime. Yo-yos are toys, not weight loss techniques.
TRB: What’s your favourite bachelorette party cocktail from your book Skinnygirl Margarita?
Bethenny: Skinnygirl Margarita, Skinnygirl Cosmopolitan and Skinnygirl Pomegranatinis are all terrific. Check out www.SkinnygirlCocktails.com to order your book.
TRB: Between the tastings, dinners and parties, how does a girl balance going out and eating well?
Bethenny: In these scenarios, "Taste everything, eat nothing." Have a little bit of everything. At other meals, balance food with good investment and high volume choices.
TRB: What’s your suggestion for the wedding day; should the bride still be conscious of her food choices?
Bethenny: High protein and light foods such as egg white frittatas, salads with protein, light soups, whole grain bread with nut butter or hummus and smoothies. You don’t want something too bloating such as bean, broccoli and peppers. A baked sweet potato is a nice comfort food with a light soup.
TRB: For the newlywed couple, what’s one of your favourite recipes to get them on the track to healthy living?
