NYC Bridal Market - October 20, 2021
Whew, what a weekend!! If you've ever been to New York City you know the feeling - your eyes are a little brighter, your pace gets a little quicker, and your heart beats just a little faster. Some blame it on the lights, others blame it on the people, but I ... blame it on the fashion.
This year bridal fashion week was nothing short of glamorous. We are so excited to be sharing with you the newest collections in our wedding gown gallery and upcoming editorial.
From the romance of Ines Di Santo (who got a standing ovation BTW for her collection) to the sexy and blingin' Pnina Tornai, wedding gowns this season are going to capture your heart and imagination.
So, even if you have never been to New York, I guarantee you are going to get that feeling I love so much - your eyes will be a little brighter, your pace a little quicker, and your heart beat a little faster - when you browse through the galleries and say, "that's my dress! "
The best way to sum up the weekend is a with a quote from designer Pnina Tornai when she said, "there is just something about New York City that sends adrenalin through my spine!" - I couldn't agree more with Pnina.
Stay tuned to the homepage in the coming days for the latest collection to be unveiled.
Talk Soon!

Sandals - August 9, 2021
A few weeks back I had the pleasure of travelling with great people from Sandals on a media familiarization trip to Jamaica. The purpose of the trip was to show us the original Sandals resort “Sandals Montego Bay” and their newest resort “Sandals Whitehouse”. Although both resorts were completely different, they both share the same incredible vacation experience Sandals is known for. I want to share with you the things you won’t find in the brochure, the extra special touches that I really appreciated on my Sandals tour.
Your vacation actually starts at the airport. As soon as you go through customs and pick up your bags you’re ushered to the Sandals waiting area. Your bags are tagged and you never have to see or handle them again. The waiting area is comfortable and appealing. You can have a drink, freshen up and then just sit down, relax and wait for them to call you for the ride to your resort.
Pulling up at the resort is another delight. As soon as you exit your vehicle, friendly staff is waiting to offer you a cold refreshing towel and of course, rum punch … or two!
One of my favourite features of a Sandals resort is the personalized butler service. You’ll be brought to your room by a butler and given a telephone so that you can contact your butler anytime anywhere. Talk about service! If you’re on the beach and you forget something in your room, all you have to do is call - before you know it your butler is there. You can have them unpack on arrival and pack on departure as well. On my last day in Jamaica, I called my butler to have breakfast delivered to the beach which was a fabulous way to relax and enjoy the last moments in paradise. Personal Butlers are hand picked by Sandals and sent through the ultra-prestigious Guild of Professional English Butlers, the world’s premier trainer of butlers for Five Star Hotels and the Royal Palaces of Great Britain!
Another great feature of Sandals Resorts is that you have the freedom to try different restaurants in your own resort as well as any of the neighbouring Sandals resorts. Guests can jump on a complementary shuttle between resorts and decide which one is their favourite. Thai, Teppanyaki, or Italian is all available and if you choose to, you can even go to the same restaurant every night. If you’re staying in Montego Bay, you have a choice of 14 dining options all serving premium brand drinks (i.e. Beringer Wines)
I observed guests at the resort and could clearly see that they were having a great time. The staff not only made guests feel important and welcome, they even memorize your name! The Sandals staff IS what makes the difference. They are polite, professional and most of all, fun.

-Back in Toronto from NYC Bridal Market - April, 14, 2010
After a whirlwind weekend In New York City I am happy to report back to you with many memorable moments. Of course my interview with Reem Acra was a highlight! Reem Acra is one of the world’s top designers having designed for many celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Eva Longoria-Parker and Taylor Swift. She’s a woman that’s so incredibly successful and yet so appreciative of the simple things. She candidly spoke to me about a recent trip to her home country of Lebanon. She was proud to find out that her elementary school held a Reem Acra day and she decided to surprise the students and show up at their school. All of children had a chance to ask questions but one little boy really stood out to her. He put his hand up and said “miss are you happy”? She thought that this was an incredible question from a small child and made her actually stop to think about how happy she really was.
The Oscar de La Renta fashion show on Monday was amazing. It was pure magic! Every dress was breathtaking. I was also lucky enough to attend an exclusive event at the ROM in Toronto last night and had the opportunity to meet and spend time with Oscar de La Renta. He attended this event prior to the fashion show fundraiser at the Carlu. We discussed his fabulous bridal collection this year as well as how dedicated he is to seeing great things happen in his homeland of Dominican Republic.
Even with our crazy busy schedule in New York we still had some time to spend with our NYC friends touring the nightlife and eating at fabulous restaurants. We reconnected with good friend, Angel Rivera, formally a behind the scenes employee of Kleinfeld, and now we are proud to say a designer of his own beautiful bridal collection. Many bridal boutiques in the States along with Kleinfeld have picked-up multiple designs from his collection! We can’t wait to showcase his gowns on TheRingBearer.ca for all brides in Canada to see how special we think he is. LP
My fav. NYC restaurants from this trip :)
BRGR - 287 7th Avenue
Yes it's a burger and milkshake joint and I love it! Best burger and milk shake I have ever had. It's also an eco-conscious place to have a bite as they have many green friendly practices.
Tip: try their Pomegranate Blueberry milkshake, voted the best milkshake in Manhattan.
Maloney & Porcelli – on 50th between Park and Madison
Great ambiance, and great food. The steaks are incredible and they're known for their crackling pork-shank with firecracker apple sauce.
Tip: If you go there Fri-Sat after 8pm or Sun after 5pm you get an appetizer, main course, dessert and all the wine you can drink for $75! This was voted the best deal in Manhattan, and for good reason. Imagine having braised lobster cocktail with white wine to start, followed by fillet mignon and your choice of a-la-carte side and glasses (yes that is correct, glasses) of red wine, and the finale…a table array of desserts!

NYC Spring 2010 Bridal Market - April, 10, 2010
We arrived in NYC April 8th excited for the start of Spring Bridal Market 2010! Right off the plane, TheRingBearer.ca team headed to the Alfred Angelo Fashion show to kick-off a busy schedule. Saturday April 10th was the first full scheduled day of shows, starting off the morning with St. Pucchi, then on to Claire Petitebone, Christos, Kenneth Pool, Carolina Herrara, Amsale, and finally ending the day with Priscilla of Boston.
Priscilla of Boston was a fabulous way to end the day. The show lasted an hour, and the final collection, Platinum was my favourite of the evening. The whole collection is stunning. Take a look at a sneak peak to what's coming for Spring 2011 from the front row! Oops, I taped sideways...I'll keep that in mind tomorrow! LP
