We grew up around the corner from each other and our two good friends happened to be siblings, so we have always had a group of mutual friends. There was always an attraction but it was a case of bad timing-one of us was always dating someone. We also went to the same high school although he was two years ahead. I worked at a fast food restaurant in high school and he and his friends used to come in all the time to bug me. He tells me now that it was because he liked me and wanted to see me, but that was the only way since I was dating someone. Then, summer 3 1/2 years ago, we both happened to be single at the same time (this being the first time it had ever happened!) We both hung out with our mutual friends more so we could see each other (without being obvious of course!) But I am a teacher in a different city so I had to go back to work.

When I left, he tracked me down. We started talking on the phone and agreed to go on our first date. He came to my place and when I came outside to meet him, he walked right up to me and kissed me. He then let out a huge sigh. He says now that he knew in that moment that I was the one he had been waiting for all along. We dated for 3 years. In August of 2011 we planned our first vacation together. We went to Montreal and had an amazing time. On the last night, we went for a walk in the park. When we found a spot where we were alone, he told me he had to ask me a question. Then he pulled a ring out of his pocket and got down on his knee! He professed his love and asked me to marry him! I was completely shocked as I had no clue he had been planning that all along. So now we are planning our destination wedding and couldn’t be happier!
