Ego: Jeff Batchelor
Olympic Profile: Jeffrey Batchelor, 22, a member of the Canadian Halfpipe Team, will be competing at his first Winter Olympics this year. Why he’s cool: The Oakville, Ont., native is currently ranked 1st in the Canadian FIS Halfpipe circuit and his goal for the Olympics is to bring home the gold. What he did: No stranger to being on the podium, Batchelor won silver at the World Cup Snowboard Championships in Korea last January. In April 2009, he placed 3rd at the National Championships in Mt. Tremblant, Que.At the end of January 2010, he placed 2nd at the FIS World Cup in Stoneham, Que., which secured his spot on the Canadian Olympic Halfpipe Team. Batchelor, as well as the other members of the Canadian national snowboard team, co-starred in the reality TV show, Over the Bolts, on MTV Canada. Batchelor Trivia: Batchelor washed windows for $2 an hour when he was eight years old so he could buy his first snowboard. |
