Living in the city of Toronto, Vanessa and Jordan incorporated elements that reflected their urban lifestyle into their wedding.

They chose a very central downtown location for their wedding and ceremony – keeping it all under the same roof. “We love Toronto’s harbourfront and thought a hotel with a lake view would be the perfect spot,” Vanessa says. Décor With Vanessa working in the fashion industry and Jordan in media, they were able to accomplish a lot of their wedding look by using their professional work knowledge and talent. “This gave us huge savings and the ability to spend more in other areas,” Vanessa says. “With the assistance of friends the venue was transformed. We used wall draping, which was back lit with television lighting and purple gels and gorgeous damask table linens that set a romantic mood.” Style Their wedding style was a mix of contemporary and vintage. Vanessa's headpiece was custom made with layers of off white ostrich feathers and a beautiful sparkling vintage broach. Her gown, by JAI Bridal, was accented by costume jewellery she purchased locally from vintage stores. The most special piece she wore was her grandmother’s antique bracelet. Flowers The room was stocked with white hydrangeas, bright green spider mums, and tall birch branches with gems off-set in un-brushed steel containers. The mix of wood and metal elements combined to give the place a modern contemporary look. DIY Vanessa designed and printed all of the stationary for the wedding. This included invites, menus, guest name cards, table numbers, candy buffet signs, wish tree cards and the thank you card found on the guest gifts. She also made 10 pomanders that hung on shepherd hooks, which lined the aisle for the ceremony. |
